My thoughts on the article “Refugeehood” by Fouad Foure and Refugees in general.

The main argument in Foure’s article entitled “Refugeehood” is that no matter what some people may believe a refugee’s experience is far from that of an easy one. Refugees have to come into a new place and have to start all over again; I cannot even imagine what that would be like. They left there country because of something terrible that was going on and had nowhere to go. Therefore, it was a good thing that we, Americans were able find the kindness in our hearts to let them in our country, right? Well, there was probably a time when I may have thought like that, and I am sure there are still people to do; but I wonder, if living in another country in which you are considered an outcast any better? Maybe it can be, there is a way to make things better for refugees, and I believe it starts by making people aware of what is going on, and then being able to be hospitable to our neighbors, the refugees.
I love that this article came from the perspective of a refugee. He seeks to tell us the truth about life as a refugee, and from what I understand it does not seem like an easy task. I cannot even picture the things refugees have to go through and how could I? I really have no idea what it is like to have to leave my country because of things going on there. I have never had to leave my family against my will, I have never, not had the opportunity to call my family just to talk, I have never been sick and not be able to see a doctor, and I cannot even come close to understanding what it is like. Although, I think reading this article and becoming informed is a start. I believe if people were aware of the real situation going on things might be a little different. I say might because it is hard to tell with some Americans, either they like something or they do not, and if they do not they tend to dust it under the rug and forget about it. I hope this comment does not offend anyone but after watching, “Hotel Rwanda” I was faced with the truth; people can go and see this movie and then go on living their normal, comfortable lives. I have seen it happen. Although, I am not quite sure how it how it can happen, I do have one idea, is it because it is so far away, therefore it has no real affect on us? Well, if that is the case then I have the perfect opportunity for the person thinking that. We have thousands of people coming from countries just like this, as featured in “Hotel Rwanda,” within our own cities. The nations are coming to our cities, and this would be the perfect opportunity for anyone who says that things are too far away, to serve the world from our own backyard, the people are coming to us now, and we need to step it up a notch and help!

Have you been wanting to go to the zoo lately???

Well, my roommate Michelle and I went to the zoo this past weekend and had a blast! We saw a ton of fun animals, here is the website to check them out! There are baby tiger cub pictures. (Although they hardly look like babies anymore, but their still cute.)
